Celebrating Our Cornwall Tourism Awards Finalist Success!
We're absolutely thrilled to share some incredibly exciting news with you all – after 43 years of welcoming families and cyclists to the beautiful Camel Trail, Bridge Bike Hire has been named as a finalist in the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2025 for the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award!
A Proud Moment for Our Team
This is the first time we've entered the Cornwall Tourism Awards, and to be recognised in this category means the world to us. The Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award celebrates businesses that excel in providing an inclusive customer experience, particularly for those with accessibility requirements – and this is something we've worked incredibly hard to achieve.
Over the past few years, we've made it our mission to ensure that everyone can enjoy the magic of the Camel Trail, regardless of their abilities or needs. This recognition shows that our efforts are making a real difference in our community.
Our Journey Towards Accessibility
Creating a truly inclusive bike hire experience hasn't happened overnight. We've invested heavily in specialist equipment, including:
Wheelchair bikes that allow wheelchair users to experience the trail
Recumbent Ice trikes for those who need additional stability and comfort
A huge range of bikes to suit different accessibility needs
Super comfort bikes through to traditional cycles, tandems, and kids' bikes
But it's not just about the bikes. We've spent countless hours researching the requirements of people with both visible and less visible additional needs. This has shaped everything from our website content to our staff training programme, ensuring every team member can offer a genuinely warm welcome to all our visitors.
A Team Effort
I'm incredibly proud of our young, enthusiastic team who have embraced every initiative with open arms. Together, we've learned basic Makaton to communicate with non-verbal customers and those who are hard of hearing. The team constantly surprises me by thinking of accessibility improvements before I do – that's when you know you've created something special!
We've welcomed accessibility experts and (we think!) secret shoppers, and we're delighted to have passed their assessments with flying colours. It's this attention to detail and genuine care that makes Bridge Bike Hire the welcoming, inclusive space it is today.
Sustainability Matters Too
We're also proud that our commitment to sustainability and our eco bikes have been recognised as part of this award nomination. Working towards a circular economy isn't just good for the planet – it's about creating a better future for everyone in our community.

What Makes Us Special
As the original Camel Trail Bike Hire (established way back in 1983!), we're the only bike hire with direct, traffic-free access to the Camel Trail. This makes us particularly accessible for families and those with mobility needs – no navigating busy roads to reach the trail.
We promise a warm welcome for everyone who visits us – yes, even your family dog is welcome! 🐾
