Lance's Triumph: Freedom on Three Wheels with the Wadebridge Coasters
A heartwarming story of determination, community, and the joy of cycling
Here at Bridge Bike Hire, we've had the privilege of witnessing some truly special moments over our 41 years on the Camel Trail. But few have touched our hearts quite like watching Lance complete his recent ride to the Iron Bridge and back with his friends from the Wadebridge Coasters.

The Wadebridge Coasters: Cycling for Everyone
If you haven't heard of the Wadebridge Coasters, you're missing out on one of Cornwall's most inspiring community cycling groups. Throughout the year, they bring together riders of all abilities to explore the stunning Cornish countryside, often incorporating the beautiful Camel Trail into their routes.
The Coasters organise rides ranging from gentle social pedals to more challenging 20-100 mile adventures. But what makes them truly special is their commitment to inclusivity through their Coasters for All programme – ensuring that cycling remains accessible to everyone, regardless of ability.
Lance's Journey
Lance cycles alongside friend and organiser David on the Camel Trail
Lance is a valued member of the Friday group, which regularly welcomes close to 20 riders. Living with Parkinson's, Lance hasn't been able to cycle independently for some time. Previously, he's enjoyed rides with us on one of our trailer trikes, towed behind one of our super comfort adult bikes – a wonderful way to be part of the group and experience the trail.
But recently, something magical happened.
With the introduction of the recumbent Ice Trike to our accessibility bike range, Lance discovered newfound freedom. The stability and design of the Ice Trike gave him the independence to cycle under his own steam, and he absolutely flew! Making it all the way to the Iron Bridge and back with his friends was a moment of pure triumph.
Not bad at all, Lance – absolutely brilliant, in fact!
Why This Matters to Us
Everyone at Bridge Bike Hire is deeply invested in the journey of the Wadebridge Coasters For All. Groups like this, and riders like Lance, are precisely why we've committed to continuously improving and self-funding our accessibility bike range.
We've made huge investments in making Bridge Bike Hire as accessible as possible for everyone, especially families. Our range now includes:
Wheelchair bikes
Recumbent Ice Trikes
Trailer trikes
Trailer Bikes

Tandems
Kids bikes
All the normal stuff and so much more
The Coasters For All have been part of the inspiration driving us forward. Giving Lance – and riders like him – the freedom to enjoy moments of triumph, to feel the wind on their face, and to ride alongside friends is what it's all about.
