Camel Trail Wheelchair Bike Has Arrived!
Our first customer for the wheelchair bike on the Camel Trail with her family
We are delighted to announce the arrival of our latest accessibility bike, the Wheelchair bike. Made by Vanraam this bike can take any wheelchair from child to adult within the weight restrictions. We have opted for the non-electric version as when we tried it it felt a little unruly and we wanted everyone to feel in full control. Since it has arrived it’s been out every weekend and we are incredibly pleased with the feed back.
Here’s some basic information:
Weight limit: passenger and wheelchair 20 stone limit
Rider weight limit 17 stone
Wheelchair width maximum: 71cm
Wheelchair: Use your own or borrow ours
How The Wheelchair Bike Works
Effortless Wheelchair Integration
The companion rider seamlessly transitions onto the bicycle platform with no lifting required. Thanks to the gently sloped access ramp, wheelchairs roll smoothly onto the cycle where they can be secured firmly with the integrated locking mechanism.
Enhanced Stability Design
Riding comfort and balance are optimized through the wheelchair's strategically low positioning on the frame, creating an advantageous center of gravity. The specially engineered front wheels feature both wide placement and independent steering capability, delivering exceptional maneuverability with minimal turning space while maintaining rock-solid stability.
Comprehensive Safety Features
Passenger security is ensured through a dual-strap system that anchors the wheelchair securely to the platform, complemented by an additional lap restraint for the seated companion. The bicycle features a reliable dual-locking brake system, preventing any unexpected movement when the primary rider steps away from the vehicle.
Watch the video
To find out more about the wheelchair bike by watching the Vanraam video, remember this is the electric version, we have got the manual version and will create our own video as soon as possible but for now this will help you see more about how the wheelchairs are loaded, the bike is ridden and how much fun it is for everyone.
The Wheelchiar bike in action, see to load and unload the wheelchair, lock into place and the braking system. our’s is the manual version so does not have the electric assist start or reverse but does not need it for the Camel Trail.
