Vincent's Journey: From No Bike to New Confidence

How the Wadebridge Coasters transformed one man's life – and how the cycling continues

At Bridge Bike Hire, we believe that cycling has the power to change lives. But it's one thing to believe it – it's quite another to witness it happening right before your eyes. Vincent's story with the Wadebridge Coasters is one of those beautiful reminders of why community cycling groups matter so much.

Starting from Scratch

When Vincent first joined Coasters for All, he arrived with two things working against him: no bike of his own, and a distinct lack of confidence. For many people, either one of these barriers would be enough to prevent them from taking that first step. But Vincent was brave enough to show up anyway.

And what a decision that turned out to be.

The Power of Community

The Wadebridge Coasters isn't just a cycling group – it's a community of volunteers and friends who genuinely care about making cycling accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Over the weeks, Vincent found himself surrounded by encouraging faces, patient guidance, and the kind of support that builds confidence one pedal stroke at a time.

Week by week, ride by ride, we watched Vincent blossom. His confidence grew, his smile widened, and cycling became something he truly looked forward to.

A Gift That Keeps on Giving

As winter approached and the Coasters for All group sessions came to their seasonal end, the team didn't want Vincent's cycling journey to stop. In a wonderfully generous gesture that speaks volumes about the spirit of this group, members of the Coasters team came together to give Vincent a bike of his own.

Now Vincent can keep cycling throughout the winter months, maintaining the fitness, confidence, and joy he's discovered. And he knows that we're here at Bridge Bike Hire if he needs any help with maintenance issues – we're always happy to support members of this incredible community.

Why This Matters

Vincent's transformation is a testament to the life-changing work being done by the Wadebridge Coasters volunteers. From someone who arrived with no bike and little confidence, he's now an independent cyclist ready to tackle the winter months on two wheels.

This is exactly the kind of story that makes us incredibly proud to support the Coasters in any way we can. The work done by David and the entire team of volunteers goes far beyond simply organising bike rides – they're genuinely changing lives, building confidence, and creating a more inclusive cycling community here in Cornwall.

Cycling Changes Lives

We see it time and time again: cycling isn't just about exercise or getting from A to B. It's about freedom, confidence, mental wellbeing, and connection with others. For someone like Vincent, being part of the Coasters for All group – and now having his own bike to continue his journey – could be genuinely life-changing.

We're honoured to play even a small part in supporting this wonderful group of volunteers and friends.
